What is a 21st Century
Physical?
Chances
are you threw away your 386 computer 10 years ago and your CRT monitor as well.
But at your primary care physician's office, doctors may still be using the
stethoscope, reflex hammer, and tuning fork - 19th century technology - for
screening physicals.
If you are sick and need specific testing,
medical technology has come a long way: Many new, highly sophisticated tests are
available to make accurate diagnoses.
But if you are well and go in for a check up, can
you be sure that testing is adequate to pick up an early, potentially serious
problem? Could you have coronary artery disease, an aneurysm or a tumor? Could
you be at risk for heart disease because of unforeseen risk factors not picked
up on ordinary lab work?
The obvious answer is yes, you could have anyone
of these conditions and yet be given a clean bill of health by your doctor.
That is why we have developed a program for our
patients that is proactive, giving us the capability to identify problems at an
earlier and usually correctable stage. We will now offer this as part of an
executive health plan, available on a limited basis to members of the business
community.
